Recent improvement

The second release of GenomeComp - GenomeComp1.3 is available now! In this release most part of the source codes have been rewritten for improvement, and the new release of GenomeComp is more compact, robust, user-friendly and powerful than before. Hence, we highly recommend you upgrade your system with the new release instead of the old one.

The following improvement has been made in the current release:

  • Most part of the source codes have been reorganized and rewritten to make it more compact and readable for using and maintenance.

  • Some validity check have been added to make the program more robust when processing some invalid user inputs.

  • A new algorithm for analyzing 'specific regions' was applied, which made the program running much faster than before. At the same time, the system memory requirement was also decreased greatly.

  • The requirement of setting enviroment parameter file manually during installation on Unix/Linux systems, has been set as alternative as long as users keep the integrating of the installation directory.

  • Two function items, 'Save setting' and 'Load DEFAULT', have been added into the 'File' menu to help users to save customized options as default or recover unexcepted options by the original setting.

  • A new 'View' menu has been added to let users to manipulate the display mode in the canvas.

  • The 'Figure scale' setting entry in the main window has been replaced by a scale bar, which can zoom in/out the figure in the canvas after drawn.

  • The original 'Upper limit' and 'Lower limit' entries in the main window have been replaced by a 'Length filter' frame, in which there was an additional 'Apply' button that can take effect the matching length limitation immediately.

  • The functions for searching ORFs and quick locating the specific regions have been enhanced.

  • The bug that the contents in 'Help' window can be deleted by users, has been fixed.
